The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) is the latest nationally accredited qualification for individuals who want to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to disability.

How Is the Course Delivered?

There are two ways this course can be delivered.

Method 1

Training is delivered via online distance components + vocational placement.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed up to 96 weeks(excluding holidays).

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 1591 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

Method 2

Training is delivered via face-to-face + online distance components + vocational placement.

Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed up to 48 weeks (excluding holidays).

Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 1292 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

What Will You Learn?

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing or disability.

This qualification will help you gain a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

How Is The Course Structured?

All learners will be assessed through the following methods:

  • Observation during role play/simulation
  • Questioning may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview
  • Third party
  • Structures Activities may include Projects, Case studies, presentations, role play, demonstration, progressive tasks

What Are The Entry Requirements?

There are no pre-requisites required to enter this training program for CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support. However, Adachi Training Organization Pty Ltd screens learners according to the following criteria:

  • Are 18 years of age and over
  • Are living or working in Australia
  • Have successfully completed at least Australian high school year 10, or equivalent
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Have sound Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills

*Learners who fail the LL& N assessment may still be enrolled to a course if endorsed by the trainer/assessor, and corresponding additional support strategies are in place.

What Are The Resources Needed To Complete The Course?

To support you in your new course with Adachi Training Organization Pty Ltd, we will provide the following:

  • CHC33021 learning and assessment suite which includes:
  • Learner Guides
  • Assessment Workbooks
  • Templates for Projects and other activities;
  • Simulated resources to provide students with simulated assessment pathways (not applicable to all assessment tasks specially those to be done during vocation placement)
  • Additional course readings and resources recommended by trainers.

To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:

  • Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the following:
  • Internet access preferably through Google Chrome
  • MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader

Vocational Placement

Learners are required to undertake a minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement within a registered and approved providers* providing aged care and disability care.

During this time, the learners are required to complete a skills workbook.

Learners have the option to:

  • Source their own Vocational Placement providers (Adachi Training Organization Pty Ltd to check suitability) or
  • Have Adachi Training Organization Pty Ltd assist them in arranging Vocational Placement providers near their area.

*The providers must also agree to allow the learner to do the simulated assessments for the units listed below, and be deemed competent (by the RTO assessor) before doing actual workplace tasks:

  • CHCDIS011 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
  • CHCCCS031 Provide individualised support
  • CHCCCS038 Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support

Provide First Aid (HLTAID011):

Separately, learners are required to complete the First aid unit (HLTAID011) prior to commencing vocational placement. Adachi Training Organization Pty Ltd does not facilitate First Aid workshops and learners must complete this unit through other providers. Learners can attend the workshop at any point during the course as long as it is before they go on vocational placement.

Vocational placement providers must allow access to:

Vocational workplace supervisor(s) to supervise and confirm completion of the required tasks included in the Skills Workbook. The workplace supervisor must:

  • Have adequate knowledge and understanding of the provision of disability care
  • Have the ability to effectively supervise and manage disability care services
  • Have the necessary experience and qualification(s) in the area of individual support specialising in disability (e.g., you have the relevant VET qualification/s, Certificate III in Individual Support Specialising in Disability or higher)

Clients’ health information, including but are not limited to:

  • individualised plans (including information associated with the plans)
  • individualised behaviour support plans

Clients’ family and or carers

Details of appropriate and local resources, programs, agencies, transport services, aids and equipment
Current legislation, regulations and codes of practices
Organisational policies, protocols, and procedures including but not limited to:

  • Work health and safety
  • Safe work practices
  • Manual handling
  • Infection control
  • Behaviours of concern and critical incidents
  • Protocols and procedures relevant to carers and families

Workplace equipment and resources normally used by care workers (i.e., as needed: patient hoists, standing lifter, wheelchair, other client assistive devices and mobility aids, and PPE)

Modelling of industry operations, including but are not limited to:

  • access to people with disability
  • access to people, carers or family members with whom the candidate can interact
  • involvement of real people when using relevant equipment
  • real interactions with the person and their carers
  • using suitable facilities, equipment and resources
  • presence of problem-solving activities
  • integration of problem-solving activities to which the candidate responds
  • scenarios that present behaviours of concern that occur in real work environments

What Are The Course Fees?

The CHC33021 course is available for only $2,000.00.

Initial deposit of $1,000.  Remaining balance will be paid in 23 monthly instalments.
