Course Overview:
This short course is intended to give participants an awareness of common microbes, their role in health and disability care, infections they may cause and the significance of assessing and managing risks.
The aim of infection control is to create a microbiologically safe environment for staff, patients/families and visitors. In other words, it is to prevent the transmission of infection but always in a manner that does not create discrimination nor interfere with care.
To be able to do this, there are some simple things about bacteria that need to be understood including methods of spread.
Participants are required to complete the practical session and theory successfully to receive a Certificate of Attainment.
