Course Overview:
Our Management of Diabetes, BGL and Insulin Short Course, delivered by a registered nurse covers the basic management, care and treatment of Diabetes. This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to assist patients in managing and monitoring of their diabetes.
Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a Certificate of Attainment.
We have a range of comprehensive resources to stay up to date with the latest best practices in the management of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.
Learning Outcomes:
- Basic understanding of diabetes (type 1 and type 2)
- Monitoring of client’s/resident’s/participant’s BGL using a glucometer
- Understanding BGL parameters or recommended target range in accordance with Health Professionals
- Management of hyperglycaemia
- Management of hypoglycaemia
- Reporting of abnormal levels to GP/nursing staff/appropriate supervisor
- Management of diabetes with Insulin via pre-filled insulin pen (if applicable)
- Document results and insulin administered (if applicable)
- Trouble shoot issues with glucometer
